First things first, that splash image is much larger than need be, and the text is much smaller than need be. Too much clutter on the bottom. You have stats, counters, trackers... birthday reminders? Just keep one of them. I'd suggest a tracker of some sort, because that will let you know how many people have visited as well as other information. The image, other than being large, also has a lot of noise. I don't know if you did that on purpose but it looks out of place.

The Splash page did look ugly. I really suck at making those. >_<


Inside looks a lot better. It's smoother and the set-up goes together well. Reading along I get to "Thank you very much", which is difficult to read because of the drop shadow you added. Scripts like that usually don't add anything, they're useful only in very rare occasions. Otherwise they add to loading time and often hurt readability. So use them with caution. Underneath that two of the vote banners are broken. Those should be fixed and placed in their own section. I have to scroll under the guestbook to finally see the updates. You should place that at the top. It's important information about your newest content and a guestbook and voting banners shouldn't have priority over your site's content. You haven't updated for awhile, try to keep up your site. We don't have any rules about not updating after you've submitted for a review.

Yeah I know about that but I submitted to other sites as well that have that requirement! Well, the hell with them, just because they can't update their page means I can't update mine, 'ne? Anyway, thanks for coming through with this review though. ^_^


Going to the info now, I should learn something since I haven't watched Kenshin passed the first episode. Well, under the profile I knew a lot of that information so I'm certain you can expand. Perhaps in the other sections... Another suggestion for information, when you say something like "Fifth, I like her because she's very smart." you can expand on that. Give some examples of how smart she is. I like reading your opinions on her, but backing up your opinions will help convince people to like her. Your section on love interest is nicely written except for a blaring "'cause" that's bothering me. It's better to avoid slang. You do the same thing some other times with words like "kinda". When you're talking about other love interests you at first do very good explaining what you're talking about in each episode, then you mention "like in the engagement ring filler episode" and don't say what happened so I can't connect with what you're talking about. Also, "But since Kenshin do exist then I guess Soujiro would have to be content with having ME as his girl (bwahahaha!!!)" Cute, but I'm just pointing out it should be "does" instead of "do".

Ooops, thanks for pointing that out. Sometimes, I do make grammar mistakes and I'm sorry for that. I actually have a hard time minimizing the use of slang but I'll try. Mind you, you're not the first person to point that out so I really don't know what the hell's wrong with me. *sheepish grin*


Lower you say "I've always thought that Kaoru went with Kenshin (or sometimes Enishi)". I haven't seen anything about Enishi yet, who is that? Not to mention just above you were saying if Kenshin wasn't there Soujiro would be your top pick for her. Indecisive, ne? You also mention a fanfiction, I hope you have a link or say which one it is somewhere so people who haven't seen it won't be lost. "or at least learn to make a proper tea." "learn" should be "learns". D made me laugh, even if I haven't seen the series. If Enishi can't do anything for Kaoru why would they be a good match? The two pictures at the bottom give me error pages. They look like they could be fanarts, too? If they are give the artists proper credit and fix the links.

I'm really sorry about that but I really expected that my visitors would have some background on RK. I'll try to have some sort of a characters page for the newbies but I'm not promising anything. Also, the two pictures on the bottom are actually doujinshi.


Moving on to Media now. Ah, this explains it. Those pictures before were from doujinshi, ne? You typo "webmsitress" in the paragraph. These scans aren't even close to fitting in your tiny window so stick a TARGET="_blank" in the links. Lots of hentai doujinshi here. Sometimes it takes more than one try to get a thumbnail to load. It might fix it if you use smaller thumbnails (taking pieces of the page and shrinking it into a thumbnail, instead of shrinking the entire page into a thumbnail). In your wishlist some have borders, some don't. It looks awkward. For this case I think they'd look better with borders. It'd help if you listed the circle and title under these. It's difficult to find a doujinshi based off a small thumbnail.

Wallpapers took awhile to load. The thumbnails are higher quality than they need to be. The first one is over 18KB. If you have Photoshop you can reduce the size easily by clicking "save for web" and then choosing the one that has the best balance of size and quality. Remember that it's just a thumbnail, the actual picture is much more important. What do you think of these wallpapers? You can also say what characters are displayed on each one, which ones are your favorites, and what resolution it's made for.


Winamp skins gave me a broken Angelfire page. I really liked looking through the Evolution page, it was something interesting to look at how their styles changed. Kaoru Marraige Prospect suddenly has larger text. Too large for this window, I think. Change it back to the other text. Hnn, Toilet Minako? Any relation to Toilet Hanako? I'm not going to read the fanfiction though.

Fandom. In the fanfiction part it would be better for you to have all the information about each fic not spaced out. It gives it an unconnected feeling and just scrolling through I wouldn't be able to tell which description goes with which fic. You have some very beautiful fanart there.


Sitey. For your link buttons, the first one has very difficult to read text. All right, in your FAQ you finally say where to find the fic. But it gives me an error page... Check your link (or put the fic up on your site). If Affiliation is closed why have a link to it? Just take it down. Adoption aren't linked either, so you can take that down. Since awards are all different shapes and sizes it's usually best to have text links, linking the picture and then linking the awards site that gave it to you.


Etc. The first thing is yet again not on your site, so you should either link to that site or just take it down. In the "Anime" section under "Views", you typoed "filer". Under your manga section, cutting off the hair is very symbollic. It's about leaving the past behind. It's also something samurai did when they got older. And for your question "P.S. I have a stupid question. Are OAV and OVA the same?", yes, they are.


In your comments about "Tsubame", I must remind you that Kenshin does take place a long time ago. What you described sounds like the way women were expected to act back then, being timid and overly polite. And in your comments about "Aoshi Shinomori", he doesn't look bishounen to me. A bishounen is a handsome boy. I don't know how old he is but I'd guess he's well above 16. Biseinen is a handsome man. You use a lot of exclamation points sometimes. You only need one (and using too many loses the effect). One last thing, you mention nagging about weight while Kaoru looks thin. Lina Inverse is supposed to be short, flat and not particularly thin too, but she looks just fine. I don't think they're allowed to draw females less-than-pretty.


That's about it. To be honest I enjoyed looking through your site. As I said, I haven't seen Kenshin, but I like reading opinions about anime and manga like these. Someone who is into the anime will probably like it much more. I mentioned all of the problems I spotted in my review already. Your effort really does show and I hope you update again soon

Your splash page took too long to load. That 77kb image should be sized down. I see your site is made using MS FrontPage... As I said in my other reviews, I don't like sites made with page builders. It shows a lot more effort on the part of the webmaster.

I guess I've been through with this a lot of times. I do know coding. Oh, I admit, I was clueless at first but when worse comes to worst, I think I can manually code my pages. I just choose not to because frankly, I don't see the point in typing all those html codes when frontpage can do it for you. I mean I basically get the same results so why bother? It's not like the visitors are after the backbone of the site. I think what they see immediately is what matters more to them. But I hope you don't get me wrong: I do have a lot of respect for those people who manually code their pages. I just don't want to do it. ^_^


Going in, the loading time did not improve. The page loaded so slow since it had to load 8 pages and 170kb worth of images. You could have used iframes but I guess the old frameset way is good too...


Layout looks fine but it loaded really slow. That flower on the lower left made it hard for me to read the text there. I see you forgot to edit that part of Kaoru's hair (left of her chin) - instead of the purplish background, it was white on that part. Hmmm... That was just me being a perfectionist...

Looking at your source, I could see a lot of redundant codes. You could have just added those styles in your p tags in the style within the head tag. That's the problem with page builders: they generate too much worthless codes. Do you realize that you could have just placed text="#660066" in the body tag instead of changing the font color (using the font tag) over and over again? Please learn HTML - it seems I cannot tell this to people so much.


You should have placed the topsites and guestbook after the updates. Better yet, you should put those topsites in a different section (preferably in the links section). You can't just expect people to vote for you upon entering your site. Furthermore, you should save those vote images in your own server. Do not direct links images.


The Profile was like the ones you see on other sites but with a little more detail. That was good. The Reasons were very subjective on your part and it was really hard to read since you bunched up 5 reasons in a paragraph. You should have separated each reason into a paragraph or you could have used bullets so it will be easier to read. You should have bashed on Miaka more! *Ahem* Kidding...

Heeeheee... C'mon, Miaka can't be that bad... oh wait, maybe she is! *grins*


In the Lovelife section, that picture of Kenshin took a lot of time to download considering its size. I confirmed it. It is a larger image. You just modified its width and height using HTML. You should have just made it smaller the manual way using an image editor. It will load faster that way since the picture will be *really* small. Same goes for the pictures in Other Possibilities. The picture on the bottom of that section should also be the same size to make it neater. Are these pictures yours? If not, give credit.


I hate it when you call some episodes "filler episode". It's really not nice. You're making it sound like those episodes are not important at all. I consider that engagement ring episode as a comic relief. For the pirate episode, I considered it as a practice for them to hone their skills (just like gaining experience to level up in games). So I feel it is rude to call them "filler episodes".

I guess those episodes were really known as filler episodes in the RK community because they were not included manga storyline. And I absolutely hated that engagement ring episode. Don't mind me, I just thought that the characters were way too OOC compared to their manga (and OAV) counterparts.


The description of the info section was a bit misleading. Most of what's contained there are your opinions. You should also add to the description that it also contains your thoughts about Kaoru. I, for one, do not need to know about the other possibilities of the men of Kaoru's life.


For your Image Gallery, I have nothing against those pictures even though they are adult in nature. I do appreaciate you making thumbs but could you please make the thumbs the same size? It would look neater that way. Some of the text there were not linked. Remove them because they're misleading. If they're really meant to be there, sorry because I'm not familiar with the doujinshi.


Some of the Wallpapers were ok but some of them looks like they were saved with poor-medium quality JPEG. The link to your wallpapers should be targeted to a new window. That way, your layout won't be ruined and it's hard to see the whole wallpaper in that small frame.


The Winamp Skins section, to my horror, was linked to another site. Did you ask permission for this? You should also tell people that those skins are not yours (if they aren't). The link to that is broken, by the way.

Oh yes, that was my site alright! It had the old version of tanuki madness so no need to be horrified. *grins* And the skins are properly credited don't worry. They were actually donated to be my very good online friend. ^_^


Media > Funstuff. The Ringing Tones should be moved up to the media section. Also, I'm not familiar with the composer keys in my mobile phone (I'm sure a few others will agree with me) and it would be really hard to compose those tones if I have to consult your guide over and over again. Is it possible for you to place the keys that we have to press in order to compose those tones?

I'll try but I'm not promising anything. ^^6


The Kaoru's Seiyuu and The Evolution should be in the info section. The Kaoru Marriage Prospect (you misspelled "property" and the font size is not the same as the other pages here) should be in the Fan Fiction section. Just remove that Funstuff link. I don't see anything related to "media" there anyway (except the Ring Tones).

Sometimes I don't review the fandom sections in other sites but I just have to say this... Fan Fiction was really hard to figure out. You should separate each of them using a horizontal rule to make it more organized. The fact that all of the text and font are bold and the link colors are the same as the text colors are starting to get annoying. It's hard to figure out which are links and which are text. The Perhaps, Maybe, For Sure... doesn't have a summary. Aaack! It's confusing. Just use those horizontal rules, will you?


Hmmm... All others are just the sitey stuff. It's good that you gave credit. The Awards section loaded slowly because of all those images. You might want to use text links instead.


Nothing more to say. My most important advice: learn HTML and have a different color for the links (or at lease underline them) to stop any confusion. Any other advice I can give is in my review.
